Chuck thinks children are our most precious resource and believes their childhood should be filled with joy. “They represent our future, our hopes, and our aspirations. We must help them reach their full potential and help them establish a commitment of service to the larger community.” He has been an educator for most of his career but writing is his true passion. Dr. Taylor is the author of several books including a children’s cultural history book on JUNETEENTH: A CELEBRATION OF FREEDOM, published by Open Hand Publishing.
Chuck dedicates this play to his beloved grandson Kemet and to his other littlest best friend Maureen. He also offers this play to children everywhere. The play delivers profound messages without preaching and engages children through laughter, suspense, and life choices. It helps them understand that we’re all a part of each other. Perhaps Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said it best: “Because we can never again live apart, we must learn somehow to live with each other in peace.”
Chuck was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and is one of twelve children. When he was young they used to joke if the bathroom burned down, it wouldn’t make it up to the back porch. He grew up in poverty but later became the first in his family to earn a college degree. Looking back he believes his childhood taught him compassion and empathy for others. He’s lived in three states: Missouri, Oregon, and has made Madison, Wisconsin home for the past 25 years.
An educational specialist with more than 20+ years of experience in academia, business and publishing, Chuck is acknowledged for his skills in communicating with and motivating others. He lives with his wife Camilla. His only child Charlie lives in California. He is currently a Professor of Education at a Catholic liberal arts college in Madison, Wisconsin.
